Skin Cancer Screening
Skin cancer is highly curable
when identified in its earliest stages. Skin cancers are classified as
melanoma when arising in moles and non-melanoma when not associated
with moles. Non-melanoma skin cancers such as basal cell carcinoma and
squamous cell carcinomas are among the most prevalent forms of cancer.
More information on skin cancer can be found on Dr. Chapas's
Huffington Post blog.

Non-ablative Laser

Non-ablative lasers stimulate collagen growth in the skin resulting in
a healthy glow and smoother texture. The laser energy produces a wound
healing response without wounding the skin surface, allowing for a
faster recovery time. Non-ablative laser treatments can improve the
appearance of fine lines, mottled pigmentation, melasma, acne scar,
surgical scars, stretch marks and enlarged pores.
Ablative Laser Resurfacing
Types: CO2 laser, Erbium
laser, Fraxel (re:pair)™, Active FX™, Deep FX™, LEDA EPI™
Ablative lasers vaporize tissue in a precisely controlled manner to
promote new collagen formation and skin rejuvenation. Recovery time can
be a few days to a few weeks.Ablative lasers are most useful for
improving scarring, moderate wrinkles, severe sun damage, moderate skin
laxity, mottled pigmentation and cosmetic tattoos.
Body Contouring
Types: Velashape™, Thermage
NXT™, Zeltiq™
Body contouring lasers heat the deeper tissues in the skin to reduce
the body circumference and improve the skin texture and firmness.
Treatments can be performed on abdomens, hips, buttocks, arms, knees,
backs and décolletage.
Pigmented Lesion Removal
Types: Q-switched ruby laser,
Nd:Yag laser, KTP laser
These lasers selectively target pigment in the skin and leave a small
scab on the skin surface to stimulate pigment removal. These lasers are
useful for treating sun spots, tattoos, Nevus of Ota and other types of
pigmented lesions.
Vascular Lesion Removal
Types: V-Beam Perfecta®,
Gemini™, Cynergy
These lasers give energy to the skin which is absorbed by blood
vessels, scars, port wine stains, hemangiomas, and other vascular
lesions. Multiple treatments are required for optimal results.
Skin Laxity
Types: Thermage NXT™, Titan,
Velashape™, Fraxel (re:pair)™, Active FX™, Deep FX™, Ulthera™

jowels, cheeks, neck, buttocks, extremities, abdomen, eye lids and
hands. Results are seen immediately after treatment and continue to
improve in the 3-6 months following the treatment.

Acne Laser and Light
Treatments
Types: SmoothBeam™,
ClearLight™, photodynamic therapy, Isolaze
Acne lasers provide energy to the skin to shrink oil glands, unclog
pores and eliminate acne causing bacteria. Multiple treatments are
required and work best with a home prescription regimen.
Photodynamic Therapy
Types: Levulan® Kerastick®,
Metvixia, Red light, blue light, V-Beam Perfecta®, Intense pulsed light

prior to light of laser activation. It’s used for the treatment of
pre-cancerous skin lesions, acne, skin rejuvenation and some skin
cancers.
